    "# Connecting to Asana's MCP Server

    The Asana MCP server is available at:
    <https://mcp.asana.com/sse>

    This server requires authentication with your Asana account. When connecting, you will be prompted to authorize the application to access your Asana data.

    🔒 Allowlist

    Due to the implementation of an OAuth redirect URI allowlist, some third-party applications might require additional configuration or registration of their redirect URI with Asana Support before a successful connection can be established. If you’re a maintainer of an MCP client, see Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server  for details on how to register.

    Troubleshooting

    1. If authentication fails, try logging out of your Asana account and logging back in.
      If that does not address the issue or you see a ""Client not found"" error, try removing the Asana MCP integration within your client and adding it back.

    2. Ensure your MCP client supports SSE-based servers (not Streamable HTTP)

    3. If you’re still not able to connect or are seeing an invalid_redirect_uri error,
      reach out to the maintainer of the tool you're using or see

    4. Check that your client can handle OAuth authentication flows

    5. Verify you have the necessary permissions in your Asana workspace

    Requirements

    1. A compatible MCP client (Claude.ai, Cursor, or any application that has implemented an MCP client)
    2. The app named "Asana MCP" is not blocked via Asana app management .
      If you're not sure if the app is blocked, try to connect your MCP client to the server and go through the authorization flow. You'll either be able to authorize the app like normal or, if the app is currently blocked, be prompted to send a request for your admin to unblock the app for your domain.

    Customizable Workflows and AI Make Tasks Easier to Find

    What do you like best about the product?
    I like that I can customize how I organize projects and apply specific rules to workflows. I'm also able to organize my own tasks and prioritize projects outside of my organizations. I also love the new AI feature that has made previous tasks easier to find.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    I find it hard to find tasks using the search function and it's easy to lose track of tasks. If the overall organization isn't onboard with a cohesive structure on how Asana is used, then it can become a dumping ground for tasks and to-do's and is hard to keep organized. I also wish that there were more custom edit capabilities like changing text color, or adding highlights.
    What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    I manage client onboarding and training so it's helping me organize the onboarding process with customers. The automation features are saving me time and keeping tasks organized for me and my team.

    The My Tasks page. It is nice to have everything assigned to me
    What do you dislike about the product?
    I don't like that you can't use Live/Dynamic Templates. I.e., if you change the original template, it won't update for future template use.

    It keeps my head clear when I'm managing multiple projects/clients at once

    In filters you can't choose both "completed tasks" and "incomplete tasks" but you have review first the other one and then the other
    What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    It helps to keep track on repeating tasks that have multiple subtasks, also easy to duplicate from a "template" to use repeatedly when a new project starts

    The project management and task assignments are very straightforward. It’s been really easy to coordinate my team and keep track of which projects we currently have open.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    The homepage isn’t customizable enough. It would be much more helpful if there were more integration options available on the front end, so I wouldn’t have to go searching to find the project I think I need.

    It is allowing our team to create and drop files into projects so that all of the work is stored in one place and easily accessible

    Simple straightforward software that fits perfectly for my organization.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    Very few things not to like. Actual hours spent are a little cumbersome to extract from the system. (csv in an email.) Customizable report would be easier.
    What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    Managing projects but I also use Asana to organize my time. It has replaced all sorts of time management tools.
